I play trunade then play reborn to revive shien, i then go into trish with kageki, kagemusha and kizan I remove gorz(score!), then i play double edged and game over.
Game2: we go back and forth but then I think i have but he removes my shien with chaos sorc and I can't draw any outs and lose.
Game3: We go back and forth again but I summon shien and have grandmaster on the field, he only has 2600 life left he tries to go for game with dark armed but I have judgment!
Results: 2-1 (warning really needs to go to 1)
Record after round 2:  2-0
Round 3: vs Machina Gadget( Chris good freind of mine)
Game1: I book his fortress, then summon hand and blow it up, then run over evrything else he has with shien. I think i can win and attack with kageki first but he summons gorz and beats face and wins.

Game3: We go back and forth but then i win with late game trish.
Result: 2-1
Record: 3-0

Round 4: vs Tengu plants(Thomas friend of mine)
Game1:  he goes all tengu and herp derps with libaraian nuff said.

Result: 0-2
Record after round 4: 4-1

Round 5: vs Zombies( Donny another friend of mine)
Game1: I open with gateway does more need to be said?
Game2: I open with d fissure and he has no outs.

Record: 4-1

Top 8 here I come!

Top 8: vs Six sam
Game 1: I open with gateway and united and he doesn't does anymore need to be said?
Game2: We both don't open great but then I use puppet plant to take control of kagemusha and synch for shien and beat face.
Result: 2-0 Win!

Top 4: vs gravekeeper
3 of us wanted to do a top 4 split but this guy didn't so we had to keep playing.
Game1: a grind game, he had answers to my plays and I had answers to his until he flipped spy and got decendant and I lost.
Game2: another grind game but i summon trish then double edge( I used mst on his necrovalley) and gradually won.
Game3: Another grind game this one took forever but he gradually got more card advantage on me and won.

Result of Tourney: Top 4 finish

Notes: Pretty good finish I just wish that we could have split but oh well, i still don't like playing with sams it is just that i feel that since I spent money on the deck that I will use it but only till the format is over. Thanks for reading!

HUGE POST ALERT PREPARE YOUR EYES!

1 T.G. Wonder Magician
1 Thought Ruler Archfiend
1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Main Deck Analysis

So as you can see it was tech genus(duh!). The monster lineup is pretty standard fair.Tengu is always good and since this is a control deck that can take advantge of its power that is part of what makes this deck so good. Rai-oh pretty much sees play in almost any control/anti-meta build so no suprise their. The Tech genus monsters all come into play here with the good ones showing up and the ones that promote synchroing ommitted(cyber mag and catapult dragon).Rush Rhino is a big beater and coupled with horn of the phantom beast nets you pluses. Werewolf acts as a free special summon and also has the darksoul effect(all of the tech genus monsters in this build do) also it is the gateway for synchroying in the deck. Striker is the only tuner that is mained and really is the only tuner that is needed, all you really need to do is acess the good level 5's that tech genus has to offer(magician, gladiator, and librarian) plus it has the cyber dragon and darksoul effects so win win.

Moving on to the spells. There is really nothing to talk about everything is standard and good. Good lineup is good.

Now on to the traps call of the haunted is a personal choice so not much to say on that. Evac is standard fair in control(well alot of the times it is) and is a good "one of" card. Now with dark bribe at first glance of this deck I would have said ewww, but once I read Hansel's feature matches I can see why he included 2 of this card. It won him so many games and often the draw did not matter as he already had control of the game and bribe just maintained that control. 2 prision is good in control nuff said. Now we get to horn of the phantom beast which is in my view the best card in the deck. It makes Hansel's tengu bigger than everybody elese's tengus and nets plus ones. At the very least it is a one for one. Rush rhino can use it, and werewolf can use it, so there really are alot of targets. Mirror force is well mirror force. Oppression is well oppression. Skill drain is soooooo good for this deck seeing as all of his tech genus still get their search effects so good card is good. Warning's, judgment and torrential all standard. Hansel decided to run only one tg1, I personally would have found room for 2 but all in all the card is really good so I can't really see why he didn't run more of this card seeing as it screws over most of the meta but I think he dropped more copies of this card for a more defensive trap lineup. lastly we have dustshoot, which is always personal choice if you can go first and get a dustshoot off then you have a good shot at winning but if you can't then it can be dead but dustshoot is almost always a personal choice in my view.

Most interesting though is the exclusion of king tiger wanghu, which to my knowledge almost everybody else playing tech genus was playing wanghu, but then again everybody else didn't win. Hansel did.

So I will analyze his side deck during the next part of this segment. Thanks for reading!

Blackwing Deck!

Hey guys today I have finally completed my much loved Blackwing deck. Now if you know anything about me then you would know that Blackwings are my favorite archtype/decktype of all time. So naturally I would revamp my blackwing deck to accomdate the loss of 2 kaluts and an icarus attack(idk why I decided to remake my blackwing deck this late in the format lol). So without further ado here is the list:

Decklist: 41 cards

Monsters:18
3x Shura
3x Bora
3x Blizzard
2x Sirocco
2x effect veiler
1x Dark Armed Dragon
1x Vayu
1x Zephyrus the elite
1x Gale
1x kalut

Spells: 10
3x Duality
2x MST
1x Book of moon
1x Black Whrilwind
1x Allure
1x Dark Hole
1x Reborn
Traps: 13
2x D-Prision
2x BTH
2x Icarus Atk
2x warning
1x Delta Crow
1x Torrential
1x oppression
1x judgement
1x mirror force

So that is the deck, not really much to say everything explains itself. I like having a heavy backrow to fall back on, but if heavy comes back then Gorz will come back in as well. I play the deck much more control based so that explains the heavy trap lineup. The thing I like about BW's is that you can tune the deck to your playstyle. I am probably NOT going to use the deck for the rest of the format seeing we only have a month until september anyway, I'll just keep using boring  Six sam, but hopefully nothing gets hit in the deck by the banlist. I do wish that they would put Icarus back at 3 but seeing at how they are still good in the OCG I don't see this happening, I can dream though right? Thanks for reading!

Photon Shockwave Discussion part 3

Hey guys as you can tell from the title I am going to be continuing(wrong spelling?) my photon shockwave discussion. Just a side note I am going to be doing a analysis of Tech Genus and was going to be using Hansel Arguero's decklist as an example but I am beginning to think that the North American coverage team for the WCQ is never going to post up the decklists for the people who topped(just a another example of how lazy they are) but if they do decide to post the decklists then I will do a deck analysis. On with the main post!

1. Giant Shadow of Egotisim(quick play spell card) Effect: When a monster declares an attack target 1 face up monster on the field and increase that monsters attack by 1000. So I have to say this card shows some promise it could be a nice tech card in certain decks that need monsters to run over monsters in battle ( blackwings(I guess?) and jurracs(does anybody play this deck?) At the very least it makes rush reckelssly completley obsolete.

2. Deep Dark Trap Hole( normal trap card) Effect: Activate when a level 5 effect monster is special summoned banish that monster. So this card is pretty good but it doesn't negate the summon so if priority on ignition effects is gone by the time we get this card, it may see some play, but if prority on ignition effects is still around just stick to bottomless trap hole.

3.Thunder End Dragon( rank 8 exceed(I will always call them exceeds) effect monster 3000 atk, 2000def must use 2 level 8 normal monsters) Effect: Once per turn you can detach a exceed material to destroy all other cards on the field. A new age judgment dragon, but it is quite hard to get it out the only deck I could see using this card effectively is some hopeless dragon or other dragon varient that uses blue eyes or galaxy eyes photon dragon which is the cover card on this set( I might review this card at a later time).

4. Evolkaiser Raiga ( rank 4 exceed, effect monster must use 2 level 4 dinosaur type monsters 2400 atk, 2000 def) Effect: you can detach 2 of this cards exceed materials to use a solemn judgement( well that is not exactly what is says but it is shorter to say it like this) Wow this card is very good sure you have to use 2 dinosaur type monsters but with the combo that was reaveled by Micheal Bonacini( which ws by using rescue rabbit you could summon 2 kabuzalus) this card is very easy to summon, quite terrifying!

That is all for today I will have one more discussion on this set by the end of this week, thanks for reading!

Legendry collection 2, tin update, Generation force special edition, and shooting quasar dragon announced for TCG!

WARNING: Huge post prepare to use your eyes ALOT

So some big product updates from konami, where do i begin?

1. Legendary Collection 2: So I had high hopes for this set and I was not dissapointed. You can find all of the info here. But I will still do a recap. So for starters E HERO Great tornado will be in here GUARANTEED! Along with cyber larva, lion alligator, spawn alligator, PARALLEL WORLD FUSION, dragonic tactics, and court of justice. So if you have been reading the manga then you are familar with these cards, but WOW HERO decks are getting a huge boost so make sure to get your hero stuff ready! The only thing is that E HERO the shining is not in here so expect him to still be a pricey card(good thing I held on to my 2 shinings!). On a side note HERO decks can finally be played her in the TCG like they are in the OCG, with parallel world fusion you can fuse like crazy and right after you play miracle fusion! Also in here are the 3 sacred beasts and the 3 darklord prize cards you used to get for placing in the top 3 of a YCS. On top of all of that you get 5 mega packs which contain 1 secret rare card, 1 ultra rare card, 1 super rare card, and 5 commons! In this set there are a total of 266 cards! Also the card pool of reprnits is amazing they include, the GB's as unknown rarties, d prision as a super or ultra, dd crow as a super or ultra, d fissure as a secret , banisher as a secret, necro gardna(secret), SUPER POLY(secret) and a few others. plus the card pool of commons also include rai-oh and judgment dragons! On top of all of this gateway of the six will be in here, along with all of the old six sams(from strike of neos like irou and shogun shien). Also( I know i am saying also alot but there really is alot to cover) alternate art for E HERO avian, sparkman, buratinatrix, cyber and dragon and THE ALTERNATE ART CYBER DRAGON YAY! There is also dark end dragon, plus light end dragon, the last darklord which is desire and a the new GB lanista! I think I througly covered legendary collection 2 but wow i really couldn't ask for anything better(except for a few new blackwings but that is in 5'ds not GX lol) there are also more cards that i did not cover so check out that link. The price is 30 USD(United states currency)

2. Moving on we have a tin update in the levathian dragon tin the 4th promo was announced to be stygian street patrol(which is okay it wasn't really a very expensive card anyway) but these tins are already to good lol, the link to the wind up zen master tin is here and the link to the levathian dragon tin is here( so you can stay up to date with the remaining promos for each).

3. So now we get to the generation force special edition you can look at it here. It of course has the usual contents the 3 packs. the rpomos this time around are: ABSOLUTE ZERO and spore. So finally Ab zero gets its reprint and spore gets a rarity upgrade cool!

4. Lastly we have some more huge news: SHOOTING QUASAR DRAGON HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR THE TCG! This card has completly dominated the OCG and will likely have a just as big if not bigger impacy here in the TCG you can check out the picture of the card in english here. no release date has been announced nor do we have the info on what pack or special release it is going to be in. It is It is going to be a shonen jump promo in the magazine, but unknown what issue.

So as you have read there is alot of yugioh product coming pull out your wallets lol. I can honestly say I have never been more excited for all of this stuff to come out kinda like when i was a little kid and I summoned dark magcian ha ha! That is all for today thanks for reading!

Photon Shockwave Discussion Part 2

Hello readers today I will be talking about some more cards from photon shockwave(btw sorry for not having any pictures in my review posts as my computer is very stubborn and won't let me insert pictures, but I am planning to get a new computer soon.) Moving on with the post today we have:

Watt King Cobra: 1000 atk and can atk directly and when it inflicts battle damage you search your deck for a watt and add it to your hand. So this is a big step in the right direction for watts as it gives them search power, which they need. But looking at the deck as a whole it stilll needs some better support, don't get me wrong this monster is great it's just that the archtype needs some help as there are better control decks out theere.....for now.

Next we have extra gate(spell card): declare a level from 1 to 12 and your opponent banishes 1 card from their extra deck with the same level declared, if there are no monsters in their extra deck discard 1 card from your hand. So this card seems very intriguing(sorry for spelling) to me. Now if you declare a level 5 or some other common level you likely won't get much out of this card, but if you declare level 12 now that changes things, there are only 2 level 12 synchros in the game: T.G halberd cannon and of course shooting quasar, and if you play yugioh(which if you didn't why are you reading this blog?) you would know that once shooting quasar comes out in the tcg, halberd cannon will become more irrlevant than it already is. Also one look at ocg meta and you will see that shooting quasar is defining their meta so i see many possiblities for this card....

So next is dark flash which is a trap card and effect is: tribute one dark monster with 1500 or more atk, destroy all special summoned monsters this turn. I have to say this card sounds very good and I think is konamis way of trying to make a more balanced crush card virus. I can see alot of decks using this( well dark decks anyway. it gives dark world decks a more controlling option to go along with ddv, and eev, but now that they have this they can stop alot of threats. The one deck that I see most benefitting from this card though are Blackwings(post about them is coming soon along with decklist) the way i play the deck is much more of a control deck so this card is like a godsend to them, being able to deny all threats and stop your opponents push. But in all honesty I think i have a bias for blackwings so in the end all dark decks will benefit from this card.

Thanks alot for reading, i havce noticed that my blog is getting a bit more popular in pageviews so that is good.

European WCQ Recap: Tengu takes it all

Hello readers doing good on my promise I will now do a recap on the European WCQ. One side note is that the european covergae team covering this event did a top notch job, they had feature matches from every round, lots of pictures, and of course graphs breaking down the deck distribution for the event. I give my complements to the european coverage team and the North America coverage team could learn a thing or two on how to cover an event, though this is the case almost all the time: the european coverage team does a better job.

So first and foremost if you could not tell by the title tengu plants win it all, no shock there, and gravekeepers came in second which is also not a surprise considering they have a good plant matchup. In the top 16 there were 5 tengu plants, 2 T.G, 2 worms, 2 six sam, 1 gravekeeper, 1 x-saber, 1 dopplesworn, 1 junk doppel, and 1 diaster dragon. Since I pay very close attention to the European meta it did not surprise me at all that and x saber made it considering that the U.K is an x-saber hot spot and 4 of the top 16 players were from the U.K. Again same thing as the North America WCQ: T.G also showed up here with two spots after T.G winning in North America that should no longer come as a shock( or vice versa as if you read the european coverage first it would have come to no shock that T.G won in North America.) Six Sam toppi8ng is old news by now same thing with gravekeeper. Diaster Dragon always has a habbit in topping in European events. Junk doppel was one deck that i expected to have more spots in the top 16, but it appears that the consistency of tengu plants is better than the explosivness of junk doppel decks. doppelsworn did surprise me as when I looked at the list it really did have a legit lightsworn engine 2 lyla, 3 ryko, and 1 jain, so it works ( I have not really looked into this deck as much so I cannot really give my view on the subject.) The 2 worm decks that topped had a splash of anti-meta in them so that is what made them so effective, also couple that with the worm engine and w nebula metorite and you have a solid choice for nationals, just a choice that i did not expect to top, but i don't disaaprove infact i am glad to see that worm decks are seeing success.

In the end though Michel Gruner(from Germany) won the event with tengu plants. Michel Gruner has won a YCS before ( i forget which one sorry!) so he is a famaliar face. On to another topic though there were 580 players at this national which is low compared to North America standards but might not be low compared to european standards.

In conclusion both WCQ's ( North American and European) showed the same thing:  Tengu plants are the deck to beat, six sam is still a good deck but doesn't have a good plant matchup ( showed by the top 8 standings were no six sam made it in the North America WCQ) gravekeepers still have a favorable plant matchup and Tech genus is one of the best control decks because it takes advantage of tengu. Most of this information was already known. Once the decklists come out for North America I will do a post on that, thanks for reading!

WCQ North America Results: Tech genus wins it all!

So as you probably know by now tech genus has won nationals in north America. SIDE NOTE: I will be covering the european national results in a different post. So lets get off the subject of T.G winning and look at some of the good things konami did. First they only did feature matches on good players so that is a plus, but the bad thing is that they didn't do any top 32 coverge they then just switched to dragon duel coverage WHAT? Besides that nothing konami did or did not do really had an impact.

Now lets move on to the event itself of course plant decks had a huge showing, actually all of the tier 1 decks had a good showing. But T.G really hammered it home, it was like out of nowhere that alot of people played this deck, not that I disapprove. Or maybe it wasn't it was that i just didn't pay attention to the meta that much( which I don't think is the case but whatever.) Also quite a few pros made it to the top 64, including jeff jones, Adam Corn, Alistar Albans, and Frazier Smith. But this pro streak ended when it came time to advance to the top 32 as somebody must have oredered a massacre on the pros, as all of the ones I mentioned above were emilnated, plus a alot of others, which left us with a top 32 with very few known names. i of course don't have any information on the top 32 as konami thought dragon duels were more important. Same story with the top 16, i really have no idea what konami was thinking and their coverage team needs a reevaluation. We did have a feature match in the quarterfinals(finally) between Jeff Walker and Joesph Bogli, both duelists were running tengu synchro decks. Now we go to the finals between Hansel Aguero and Samual Pedigo, hansel running T.G and Pedigo with tengu synchro( or plants whatever you want to call it).

The everntaul winner was Hansel Aguero, so congrats to him and everybody else who made top 64 they all did a great job, except for 2 people in that top 64 ( Paul Cooper and Nizar Sarhan). Paul Cooper from what i understand used his empty jar deck and was dq'd in top 64 for unknown reasons but if you know who he is from YCS coverage you can probably figure it out ( he was using his empty jar deck see any problem?) Moving on to Nizar Sarhan I firmly believe he did some form of cheating, why? Well Michael Bonacini of Death Aspect Blog has all of that information so make sure to look at that.

Overall I am pleased with the results, it is unforunate that alot of pros were ousted in the top 64, but oh well, let's let some new people represesnt North America. T.G is a good deck so I don't think that it deserved not to win, infact i amk quite pleased that a tengu varient did not win. That is all for today so check back tomorrow for a recap of the european nationals.
EDIT: I will do more of a deck breakdown once the decklists come out, but with the european national recap I will cover it all in one post.

Photon Shockwave Disscussion Part 1

So I am now back from vacation and ready to blog again. So as you can see I decided to do a review ( or at least part 1 of the review) of photon shockwave. I might do a review of generation force but right now photon shockwave is just a much better booster and will likely have a very large impact on the game.

First is rescue rabbit which by banishing this card you can summon 2 normal monsters with the same name. So at first i thought this card was very balanced but as I played out the combos in my head and also read online, this card is anything but balanced. It is almost an instant exceed of any level ( barring levels five and up). They just really didn't make this card have enough restrictions, the cannot be special summoned from the deck stops summoner monk and random floaters but who cares, with all the draw power decks have no days it is almost like searching for any card you want( well it's not that bad) and to be quite honest the "restriction" of being banished instead of being sent to the grave is better in my view, can anyone say empty sea space levathien( srry for spelling).

Second is tribe shocking virus. I will stick to my previous of view of this card in saying that this card is balanced, it basically does the same thing as tribe infecting virus, but it banishes the card instead of discarding it. EDIT: This card is only useful in mirror matches as you must destroy the same type of monster that you banished, ex: if I banish a warrior I can only destroy warriors but i still think it will be a good side deck option for tier 1 decks as they will have alot of mirror matches.
The last card I will review for this part is preacher of the ice barrier which by tributing this card while you control another ice barrier monster to special summon another ice barrier from your grave but you cannot special summon level 5 or higher monsters the turn you use this effect, not to mention you can special summon this card from your hand if you control another ice barrier. So this card gives a reason to play ice barriers.

That is all for today thanks for reading!

Shattered pot of greed

So konami made this card, effect is: when you draw a card by your draw phase place one counter on this card you can remove 2 counters from this card to draw 2 cards. So this card can fit in any deck and migitates any -1 and turns it into a plus 1. Now this card is a prime target for mst but I would rather have that happen then someone mst my judgment or any other controlling or good card I have in my backrow, much more on photon shockwave when I get home from vacation.

Blackwing deck update

So I am still on vacation and I am posting this from my phone so I will keep it short. So as you know I am rebuilding b wings because they are my favorite deck. Just a random fact b wing decks are very cheap as the only money card ( pod) is getting reprinted. Anyways I was testing some cards and I found out that deck devistation virus is amazing. I have been testing this card for a few weeks and as long as monsters are little in atk this card is good. That's all for today.

Pod reprint

Wow so pod is getting reprinted in both tins and so is simorgh and gaia, good thing I sold my simorghs. I have a pretty good feeling about the pod reprint because scrubs who use this card are still scrubs if they can't play good.
Expect to see a rise in decks that play pod like gravekeepers among others. I am posting this from my phone so that is all.

Just a little blog update

So nats are tomorrow so for the final time good luck, but what i am really here to say is that from july 5th through july 15th I will be on vacation so expect little to no posts in that time span. I can upload new posts from my phone but it takes alot longer than a traditional keyboard, plus the quality of posts go down since they are so short. But nevertheless I might still updatde the blog from time to time. But when I come back I promise to talk a bit about the upcoming banlist and set previews from generation force so thanks to all my readers and see you all in about 10 days or so.

Six Sam deck update

Hey guys so today i have my six sam deck, despite how much hate I give it saying that I am bored with it and everything, six sams are still my favorite deck of the format so with out any further ado here it is.

Monsters: 13
3 kageki
3 kagemusha
3 kizan
2 elder
1 grandmaster
1 hand

Spells: 19
3 united
3 smoke signal
3 actestism
2 upstart
2 mst
1 dojo
1 gateway
1 reborn
1 rota
1 book

Traps: 9
3 dest
2 warning
1 judgement
1 mirror force
1 opression
1 fiendish chain

So as you can see I use the actestism engine which as long as I play six sams I will use because it just gives the deck alot more options than it had before. There were only a few times that it was ver a dead card and allows me to go into first turn shien quite reliabliy. Not only that but elder is actually a very good card by itself and with it you can actually go for level 8's quite alot, so overall the actesiscm engine just gives me more options. The deck is 41 cards but with the two upstarts they make it a 39 card deck so you could actually add another card in the deck in order to make it 42 but the upstarts will bring the count down to 40. The lone dojo is there just beacuse of extra consistency and it turns sometimes bad hands into good ones, and it game 2 allows me to side one more dojo and squire to combat the chain disappearences. Lastly fiendish cahin is there just beacuse it is such a good utility card. Thanks for reading!

Rabbits, Viruses, nationals, oh my! And konami being smart OH MY!

I like the movie refernce I did, anyway back on topic, yes as you can see from my creative title (or not) I am talking about 4 things First Rescue Rabbit! WEll where do i start, oh yea by saying that this card is balanced. The card requires 2 normal monsters which there aren't many good ones, the first thing that came to mind was HEROS but then I read up on other archtypes and sabers and GB's are also good picks. The thing that makes this card balanced is that you need to  run 3 rescue rabbit and 3 normal monsters which takes up 6 slots and if you get off 1 rescue rabbit in a duel that means that you have 2 dead cards in your deck. This takes up space for possible tech choices. Unless you run pot of avarice you can't take advantage of the other 2 copies in your deck. Now I am not saying that this card is not good but what i am saying is that it takes thought on what the correct number is and waht to do with it if it is dead, which is a challenge that i am sure some duelist will overcome and every duelist will follow suit. But in all of the before mentioned decks I would run this card beacuse it provides and instant exceed. So konami gets one smart pointy for actually making a card balanced.

Second is tribe shocking virus which is also a much better version of tribe infecting virus. First you must banish the card, second the effect can only be used once per turn. I can definatley see this card being used as a solid tech choice or a staple in antimeta decks just beacuse of the control it gives across the board. But I really think that this card is a great side card as it gives you the good matchup against all of the mono type decks out there. Lets name a few: six sam, gk, bw( I know that they are not that popular but hey it works), and all of the other rouge type  mono decks out there. Also you can use the banish'd card to your advantage in HEROS by using the shining. So know konami has 2 smart points
Third is nationals. I will not doing an in depth review, wait I will here it goes. Anything that spams tengu and libaraian=WIN. Six sam=Good, Agents=Solid choice, GK's=So So choice. There is my in depth review, hoped you liked how much work I put into it (:

So to wrap this up konami is actually being smart, very surprising i know and i might actually think they know what they are doing provided we get a decent banlist and not some off the wall who desinged this thing I quit banlist lol. So good luck to everyone who are going to nationals and use my in depth review for a guide to nationals lol.
